Neil Rogers of rogers&co was contracted by SSR ( Svenska Samernas Riksförbund) as ‘the international tourism expert’ for the project, hired to support visitSápmi and provide site planning, conceptual and sustainable design input along with operational, service, product and experience development guidance for the Sápmi Lodge pilot project.

rogers&co was part of a team that included a consortium of leading Swedish architects who had previously been involved in the concept creation and design of Treehotel in Harads – SandellSandberg (Thomas Sandell and Jenny Kåhre), Mårten Cyrén and the Inredningsgruppen (Bertil Harström).

The Sápmi Lodge pilot project’s aim was to show how the development of a strategically located, iconic Sámi themed hotel could be a focal point for showcasing authentic Sámi ecotourism.

The project was supported by funding from Länsstyrelsen Norrbotten, Längmanska Företagfonden and The European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
